Starting January 13, families can log on to http://www.formspring.com/forms/?766378-sEbZtLrzfg to pre-enroll in the District. Pre-enrollment via the web will end on Sunday, February 7 at 4:00 pm. If you do not have web access, you may use a computer on the BHS campus at the Parent Resource Center from 9:00-3:00 starting January 19.

Following Pre-Enrollment, a parent or guardian must come into the Admissions Office (1835 Allston Way) February 8-11 to complete the enrollment process. A receipt of completed enrollment, with a student id #, will be given to you. If you did not already pre-enroll, you may do so on the day you enroll. The office will be open the week of 2/8-2/11 for high school age enrollment from 8:00 to 12:00 and 12:45 to 2:30. There will also be two special enrollment sessions Monday, March 1 from 1pm to 3pm, and Tuesday, March 2 from 9am to noon.

No high school enrollment for 2010-2011 will take except for the dates and times listed above until March 22, when the Admissions Office will take high school enrollment during normal business hours. The not registered by Tuesday, March 2 will: a) Not be in the first lottery run; and b) Not be allowed to enroll until after March 22.

In order to minimize wait times, we are advising that new families adhere to the following schedule for the week of Feb 8-11:

Last Names        Please come to Admissions on…

A-F            February 8
G-L            February 9
M-S            February 10
T-Z            February 11

If you are unable to make your assigned day we will accommodate you; however, adherence to the schedule will help us manage the volume of students we must process and allow us to serve all families in a more efficient manner.

Whether you are already enrolled in a BUSD middle school or are a non-BUSD student enrolling in February, you will enter the BHS lottery at the same time. As long as you are enrolled in the District by 3/2/10, you will be given the same priority in the BHS lottery.

On your Enrollment day, bring the original and a copy of the following documents:

I. A Birth Certificate

II. Proof of Berkeley residence – originals of any THREE from the following list of CURRENT documentation. At least one must be from category “4”, and must be imprinted with the name and Berkeley address of the parent/guardian in order to establish proof of residency:

  1. California Driver’s License or ID
  2. Current bank statement
  3. Action letter from Social Services, a letter from the State Office for Medi-Cal, a letter from the employer on company letterhead or a paycheck stub

Students who are new to BUSD, and completed the enrollment process in February, will make course requests in the BHS Library from 6-8 pm on March 1 (Last Name A-L) and March 8 (Last Name M-Z).  There will be one makeup session held on Monday, March 15. ~Please bring your confirmation of enrollment with ID# and a copy of your transcript. If you cannot make your assigned night, we will accommodate you in one of the three sessions, but please try to attend during your allotted time.

Students who are new to BUSD but miss the February enrollment must enroll at the Admissions Office after March 22.  Another lottery run will take place for these students and they will be placed in a learning community based on space available.  Course requests will be taken for these students in late April and will be done by appointment with the counselor.
